Re: receiver not charging

Are you using Yaesu's rechargeable battery, or ordinary AA  
rechargeables?

You can use ordinary AA rechargeables (I like MAHA NiMH cells), but  
you need to trim about half an inch of the label from the minus end  
of the bottom cell. That lets the radio's charging contact connect to  
the cell's can.

The display flashes the word "charging" while the radio is trying to  
charge the battery.

I suggest you check to make sure the can is negative polarity. They  
always have been on rechargeables I've seen, but I don't trust the  
word "always."
