You may have to peel some of the label off one of the batteries. The charging terminal is on the side near the bottom and the label can insulate it from making contact. Just peel a ¼ inch or so off the battery with the terminal on the contact and you should be good to go. They apparently did it to keep you from operating the radio on the charger and it acts as an interlock to insure the batteries are present before the charger kicks in. Jack K6YC Sacramento _____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Butch Bussen Sent: Thursday, February 04, 2010 7:51 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [VR-500] receiver not charging I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I got a vr-500 for Christmas. When I tried to charge it, it wouldn't take a charge. I took it back to A E S here in Vegas and they did a reset. The display showed charging so I thought it was o.k. I haven't used it much, but charged it once or twice. Tuesday when I turned it on, it started turning itself off and on, so I knew the battery was down. I left it on charge over night, but when I unplugged it yesterday, it hadn't taken a charge. It runs fine on the adapter. I might explain that I'm totally blind, so I have no way to read the state of the battery on the display. I've figured out how to do a few things, but the manual doesn't translate well from pdf to text. I've done a couple resets, but my wife says when the receiver is off, the display is just dark, but it still isn't charging. I was just wondering if this has been a problem or if anyone has any ideas. As soon as I can get a way to the store, I'll ask the folks at A E S, but thought I'd ask on the list in case there is something else I can try.
