I bought the FTBVR5K software last week for my VR-5000, and it seems to work well. It was only $12 US (regularly $15 US), because it is 20% off for June 2010. Here's the web site for the software: http://www.g4hfq.co.uk/ftbvr5k.html You will need a serial port on your computer (or USB to serial adapter) and a "NULL modem" cable. If you have one of those old blue serial LapLink cables with 2 connectors on each end, they work. Also, I found that 9600 BPS works best for me. I tried the default 4800 BPS once, and it failed after a few minutes of downloading from the radio. I also tried 56,700 BPS, but that doesn't work at all. PS: I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, so the software should be okay with almost any version of Windows. - Eric, http://www.InvisibleRobot.com/
