Hi Jack - as long as the band scope is not on the following work :

F Clr - turns off sub band
that leavess you with just 1 frequency .

Hit the M/S key once in order to actually tune the main band

THEN hit M/S one more time for the sub Band VFO to come on

From then on, you can switch between M and S by using the key.
What the  F M/S key will do is either synchronize the 2 VFO or de Synchronize them
