Locking Up

Hi Folks, I've had my VR5000 a good few years now. I used to have a problem with it locking up when changing modes. It went to Yaesu UK for a firmware upgrade, and that solved the problem. Lately, though, it has started locking up again. If it's in VFO mode on USB and I want to change to FM, for example, it gets as far as AM-N and then locks up. Anyone have any idea why this happens? I recall reading somewhere about dodgy power supplies. I've measured mine on no load and it is over 18volts. Haven't yet taken the lid off to measure voltage on load. The firmware version is 1s.17, Any help welcomed, Thanks, Regards, Tony.
