RE: Total lockup vr-5000

John,

I have an "original" vr5000 with the 1u13 firmware and I've seen that 
message a lot.  It's not necessarily related to the "power quality" you 
supply it.  I've usually only seen that message when I'm poking the 
buttons.  It doesn't really have much of a "processor" in it, it's 
almost all done in a gate array, so it's really a state machine.  See 
the attachment.  Incorrect key presses can throw it into an undefined 
state.  Since the operators manual leaves so much to be desired, it's 
relatively easy to get it into a hung state.
