There are 3SK228 available on fleabay, and I'm sure it could be cross
referenced to another number.
If I were you, I'd send it to Yaesu for repair and a tune-up and maybe
firmware update.
I'm thinking it might make a good source of parts for my working VR5K.
But since mine is working just fine, I wouldn't offer any more than $50.
Even then I'm just speculating that I might someday need a part for mine.

Picked up a 5K in really nice shape but deaf 30MHz and below. I can hear
local BCB very weak on a 300' wire and from the last one I had these
don't like much more than 10 - 20' of wire on HF. I'm guessing its the
3SK228. Who sells them? If they are lost to the world, anyone want to
make me an offer on this radio as is Shipped from zip 01960?
