Re: Better antenna to use.

The best general purpose antenna I have found is the one that came on the 
Sony SC1 scanners. Side by side (I have two 120's and two VR-500's) it just blows 
away any other antenna I have tried on these radios. It can still be ordered 
from Sony parts (you can find it on a web search, I did when I needed a 
replacement) and it costs around $40.00
Not cheap, but very good IMHO
