I have and enjoy both a Yaesu VR-500 and VR-120.

The VR-500's full numeric keypad make it much easier to use
than the VR-120. Of course, the VR-500 has 1000 vs 640 memory
channels.

VR-120 advantages over the VR-500 include better audio output,
smaller size, lighter weight, better AM BCB sensitivity due to the
built-in bar antenna, and larger frequency digits.

I take the VR-120 traveling more often than the VR-500 mainly
due to its better audio output and better AM BCB reception.
