I agree with you in almost all respects except.... The display on the VR-500 is MUCH better, especially at nite, where you don't need a severe viewing angle to use it. The battery life on the 120 is much much better (I use 1800 NIMH, and I have yet to run a battery down between recharges - lasts for days!) VR-500 good for around 8-9 hours in my usage. I use the 120 in the car locally, but the VR-500 goes along on longer trips on the weekends - hooked up to a RS amplified speaker, of course, the audio sucks. I have found the best use for either radio is the put some velcro on the dash, with the opposite pieces on the back of the belt clip, and a ring around the base of the antenna. Just stick it to the dash, using the stock antenna, works great. One other thing, on the 120 the antenna does not seem critical, the radio just does not have great ears, on the VR-500 I use the antenna off my Sony SC1-PC. It works FANTASTIC on just about all bands, makes quite a diff over the stock antenna, works even better than the Diamond, which is well thought of.
