      I cannot really understand what you mean by the term Alum. Is it Aluminium, 

Potashalum or what?

Anyway, concentrated H2SO4 will displace HNO3 (a more volatile acid)  from its 

salt:

2KNO3 + H2SO4 = HNO3 + K2SO4

What do you mean by "Alum"? If you mean the metal, it will dissolve, giving a 

mixture of nitrate and sulfate in solution.
