Considering creating a link grammar for Lojban

Hi all,

I am a Lojban newbie but am speculatively considering using Lojban 
within my AI project, Novamente (see www.agiri.org).  Novamente has 
some English language comprehension ability but I think it would be 
interesting to try teaching it in a simpler language, and Lojban 
would be great because its predicate logic syntax is not too far off 
from Novamente's internal "probabilistic term logic" syntax.

However, Novamente's current NLP framework uses a form of grammar 
called "link grammar", see

which is quite different from the BNF or PEG formats that I've seen 
used for specifying Lojban grammar.

I am curious for opinions from Lojban grammar experts on how viable 
it would be to create a link grammar for Lojban.  Of course, if I 
knew Lojban I could assess this for myself, but I'm trying to assess 
whether I should take the time to learn it -- which depends largely 
on whether I want to use it in Novamente, which depends largely on 
whether it's viable to make a Lojban link grammar ;-)
