Pledge week

Due to our ongoing hardware issues, I think it's time for us to get
serious about hardware and purchase $20,000 in hardware, to ensure
uptime reliability and room for growth in the future.

Erik suggested, wisely, that I should write a "letter to the
community" asking for donations, and I'm working on that.  But I
wanted to give a heads up here to the mailing lists.

If you are a _technical_ person, particularly with experience with
high-traffic websites, then helping us to form a consensus on
wikitech-l on the exact parameters of the purchase would be helpful.

And if you have money, please send it.  :-)

The goal of $20,000 is actually a goal of around $16,000.  How quickly
can we reach that goal?  I don't know.  But please hit up your
friends, relatives, enemies, etc.  :-)
