We don't yet have an option for this. In addition to in-wiki links, 
this could affect external links, as some interwiki links may force 
capitalize the first letter anyway.

See recent discussion about the "linktrail" regular expression. I think 
this should work in general:
"/^([A-Za-z',]+)(.*)$/sD"

Not quite sure about the period issue.
