I got some errors from my mail server, so I send this message to you
again. Sorry if you already received it.

Dear Mr. H. Bruyninckx, Mr. Paolo Fiorini and other members of OROCOS
Sorry, I thought that the GENERIS web site was down that's why I didn't
tell you about it. This
site is very new, it is not yet completely debugged and we have some
small problems with the
mail spooler that we will solve as soon as possible. In addition, the
document available
for download by ftp is an old version but you can read it for having a
better vision of GENERIS.

Regarding Open source software, the JRC does not have any rule at the
moment. We could discuss this,
but this software is currently under commercial distribution at ERXA and
supported by us. In addition, I think that
the software kernel source does not need to be opened, because a
developer of robotics does not need to
know detail: he needs to develop its application and to make it run,
just that.

About the RTOS, the kernel can be ported in another RTOS without any
problem. However vxWorks has a set of
tools that permit to test the software, monitor system and variables
very easily. Even if the initial cost
of tornado seems high, this is saved in development effort!

About the Porting Tool Kit: you can find information in the web site.

Testing/Benchmarking: we are preparing some documentation ready for
March. As it is a bit late, I am going
to prepare you some summary, but if you want to know more details do not
hesitate to ask me.

References: the Web site, the journal 'Industrial robots, 1999, issue 1
Vol 5¨, and other.

I am out of office, but I am going to try to send you some info asap.

We are preparing a demo version which is nearly ready (end of January)
for evaluation purpose.

Please, do not hesitate to ask me whatever you need, even if I do not
reply soon because I am out of office I
check the mail twice a day.

Best regards,

E. RUIZ
