Hello,

We are finally done testing packages and writing enough documentation to
present the Orocos@KULEUVEN framework in it's current state.

You can find more information on the Orocos webpage.

We will provide debian packages next week, so for now you'll have to do with
the tar.gz files.

The online documentation :

http://people.mech.kuleuven.ac.be/~psoetens/orodocs/index.html

You can download from :

http://www.orocos.org/downloads.html

The 'official' release notes are below.

We'd like to thank everyone present at the workshop two weeks ago for
providing us a lot of feedback. Hopefully, we solved most of the addressed
problems.

with kind regards,
Peter and Takis

OROCOS v0.9.0  Release Notes
----------------------------

We announce the release of the Open RObot COntrol Software v0.9.0.

This release is tagged as UNSTABLE (but we use it all the time).
Expect here the latest and
greatest, but also potentially buggy features. This release and
all following 0.9.X releases will pave the path to a v1.0 api.

The 0.9.X branch has to reach some aims within each package before
1.0.0 will be released  :

    Core (Realtime)
    ----
    * API stabilisation
    * Expanded Framework Device Interfaces
    * Examples

    Motion Control (Realtime)
    --------------
    * Porting to LRL version 2.0
    * Trajectories and Interpolators refactoring
    * Clearer, more advanced Components
    * Extending kinematics with more algorithms
    * Extension of the motion control API?
    * Task specification fundamentals?

    Drivers (Realtime)
    -------
    * Full C++ Comedi support

    Interfacing (Soft Realtime)
    -----------
    * (Graphical) user interface
    * Basic CORBA support

    Robots (Realtime and Soft Realtime)
    ------
    * Completion of the command line interface
    * More generic implementation of a Robot device
    * Better Joint interpolation
    * closing of the force control loop

    Documentation (You'll need it)
    -------------
    * Motivated API specs

Might be nice if we got...

    Distribution (Not Realtime)
    ------------
    * CORBA interfaces to our components
    * Distributed HeartBeatGenerator

This 0.9.0 release is a major step after the 0.1.0 release. A
whole summer of work resulted in an enormous code explosion.
Documenting and testing this work resulted in a somewhat
slow down in the release cycle.
