The channel is one thing, the protocol that pencodes the _meaning_ of
the graphical actions is a second thing. I do not have very clear
ideas about what exactly we really need, so probably it's best to just
try out some ideas, and discuss concrete examples...

Agreed. There is a need for such a "server", but again its full
specification is still unclear to me. Proably, there are many servers,
because thre are also many different needs and application
purposes...
