thanks Herman,

I see now that the addi release comedi drivers for the apci-1710 card.  
The adlink pci-7841 comes with linux drivers but not comedi drivers, 
which makes sense since comedi doesn't do CAN, as far as i am aware at 
least.  So how does the orocos CANOpen implementation interact with 
hardware?

In any case I am still interested in hearing if anyone is using this 
hardware, if only for the comfort of knowing i am not alone..
