The 4 males in 9th to 12 place were 9. Juskov 74,631, 10. Grjaztsov 76,151, 11. Tumolero 76,466, 12. Mikhajlov 76,516, which means that if the 12 finalists rule had applied, the home team would have had a finalist, and the stands might possibly have been considerably less empty.

The men were considerably less predictable than the women, as are their habit in this kind of competition, and not so many points were given out. But Marcel Warnaar predicted well and was the only one who had the correct podium. He recieved 26 points. Then followed Kees de Vroege, Carool van Kesteren, Erick Vogelzang, and Jørgen Slyk, all in 22, and then Nils Meland, Brynjar Haarberg, Harm van den Belt, Sybe van Hijum and Nils Lid Hjort, all in 18, and Bert Steghuis, Gerrit Stevens, and Tor Ivar Riise, alll in 17.

Those with quick minds will now realise that we have joint winners this year:

Then we in the organising committee (my cat Klumpen and I) must thank you all for a most enjoyable tournament. The competition does not attract the number of participants that iit did in the top years, but there's nothing wrong with the level yet, and the two that won their first medals this weekend can be real proud of their efforts – even more so the winners, of course!

And if you don't find your name very high up on the list, there is another chance when we go to Berlin in March. See you then!
