Honda Leases FCX to Individual Customer.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. announced the lease of its FCX, its
advanced hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicle, to the world's first
individual customers, Jon and Sandy Spallino of Redondo Beach,
California.  The Spallinos become the world's first fuel cell family,
having signed an agreement to lease a 2005 Honda FCX for a period of two
years at $500 a month.  The Spallinos will use the FCX in everyday
normal use, including commuting to work to Orange County, trips to
school for their children, shopping and household errands.

IKEA Receives HydroGen3.

The Berlin branch of IKEA has just received a hydrogen-powered Opel
HydroGen3.  The 60-kW fuel cell vehicle will be used by IKEA's technical
service team.  Two employees were trained in handling the specific
features of this car and how to log performance data which is collected
for later assessments.

DaimlerChrysler Delivers More F-Cell Vehicles to California.

DaimlerChrysler has delivered two fuel cell vehicles to the Bay Area Air
Quality Management District (BAAQMD) under the Department of Energy
(DOE) Hydrogen Learning Demonstration Project.  Southern California
Edison (SCE) also took possession of a hydrogen fuel cell-powered
DaimlerChrysler F-Cell.

Volvo and Statoil Form New Company.

Volvo has formed a new joint-venture company with Statoil, called
Powercell, to develop power units based on fuel cell technology.  The
power unit features a newly patented technology and is so compact that

Plug Power Inc. has sold twelve GenCore(r) backup fuel cell systems to
the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).  The 5-kW

supply (UPS) equipment to provide critical backup power to DEP offices

FCT Ships Solid Oxide Fuel Cell System to University of Liege.

Fuel Cell Technologies, Ltd. (FCT) has shipped a 5-kW solid oxide fuel
cell (SOFC) combined heat and

power (CHP) system to the University of Liege, Belgium.  The system will
be compared to conventional

methods of power and heat generation at the university's Montefiore

FuelCell Energy Sells DFC to Marine Combat Center.

FuelCell Energy, Inc. has sold a 250-kilowatt DFC300MA(tm) power plant
to improve availability of reliable electricity to help the U.S. Marine
Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) meet security requirements and
cope with fluctuating power needs.  MCAGCC, located in California,
provides year-round instruction to ensure continued readiness of
trainees from all branches of the armed forces.  The base also supports
the day-to-day living needs of more than 10,000 personnel and family
members stationed there.  The fuel cell will supply onsite base load

Acumentrics Fuel Cell Successfully Runs on Diesel Fuel.

Acumentrics Corporation and the Idaho National Laboratory have
successfully tested equipment that converts diesel fuel into hydrogen
and carbon monoxide and passed this fuel mixture through an Acumentrics
solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) to generate electricity.=20

CFCL Enters Contract With EWE.

Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited (CFCL) has signed a contract with German
utility EWE for a commercial field trial of two CFCL fuel cell units.
This is CFCL's second international contract to provide fuel cell units
to energy utilities for field trials, following its contract with

Medis Signs Agreement with Major U.S. Mobile Operator.

Medis Technologies, Ltd. has entered into a cooperation agreement with a
major U.S. mobile operator for the market testing and introduction of
Medis' fuel cell Power Packs as a secondary power source for the mobile
operator's portable electronic devices.  Under the agreement, Medis will
deliver 15 Power Packs to the mobile operator by the end of July for the
company to demonstrate both internally and to its customers.=20=20

Stella Group Leases Fuel Cell.

The Stella Group, Ltd. is leasing a Plug Power Gencore(r) fuel cell as a
backup power unit for use at its      office building in Arlington,
Virginia.  The 5-kW unit is powered by hydrogen stored in gas cylinders,

Hydrogenics Supplying Units to APC.

Hydrogenics Corporation is supplying 25 HyPM(tm) XR back-up power units
to American Power Conversion Corporation for its new InfraStruXure(tm)
with Integrated Fuel Cells System.  Hydrogenics has delivered the first
five units of the order, and expects the remainder of the units to be
delivered throughout 2005.

Intel Group Releases Fuel Cell Guidelines.

The Mobile PC Extended Battery Life Working Group, an Intel initiative,
has released its "Fuel Cell Guidelines for Mobile PCs" covering
electrical, mechanical, control, thermal, environmental and regulatory
aspects of fuel cells for mobile PCs.  The document provides technical
specifics on how to design fuel cells that would be able to power
notebook PCs.

QuestAir Signs Agreement With Mitsubishi, HyRadix.

QuestAir Technologies Inc. has signed an agreement with Mitsubishi
Kakoki Kaisha, Ltd. to market QuestAir's hydrogen purification systems
in Japan and other Asian countries. Under the non-exclusive agreement,
MKK received the right to market QuestAir's HyQuestor(r) and QuestAir
H-3200 pressure swing adsorption (PSA) products in Japan, China and six
other Asian countries.  The initial term of the agreement is three
years.  QuestAir has also signed an agreement to supply its H-3200
hydrogen purification systems to HyRadix Inc., a leading developer of
hydrogen generators for industrial and hydrogen fueling applications.
QuestAir also received a US$263,000 purchase order from HyRadix for an
initial delivery of H-3200 units, to be completed over the next year.

Sandia and GM to Develop Metal Hydrides.=20

Sandia National Laboratories and General Motors have launched a 4-year,
$10 million partnership to develop and test tanks that store hydrogen in
a complex hydride, sodium aluminum hydride - otherwise known as sodium
alanate.  The goal is to develop a pre-prototype solid-state hydrogen
storage tank that would store more hydrogen onboard a fuel cell vehicle
than current conventional hydrogen storage methods.=20

MA Hydrogen Coalition Unveils Initiatives.

The Massachusetts Hydrogen Coalition has unveiled seven proposed
initiatives to significantly expand the hydrogen and fuel cell industry
in the state. These initiatives include developing the Massachusetts
Clean Energy Corridor, establishing a Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Center,
establishing a Clean Energy Export Program, greater Education and
Outreach, increased state Resource Allocation and Procurement, and
establishing appropriate Tax and Financial Incentives. As a first step,
the Coalition will work collaboratively with representatives from state
agencies, institutions, universities and industry leaders to develop the
Massachusetts Hydrogen Roadmap.=20

Donaldson Company, Inc. has introduced a new filter media designed
specifically for fuel cell cathode air contamination control
applications.  The new media, which is available in various filter

ANL Research Team Develops New Hydrogen Sensor.

A team of researchers in the Materials Science Division at Argonne
National Laboratory demonstrated an enhanced hydrogen sensor design that
shows a rapid and reversible response to hydrogen gas that is repeatable
over hundreds of cycles. The sensor material is made by depositing a
discontinuous palladium thin film on a glass slide coated with a
grease-like self-assembled monolayer of siloxane attached to the
surface.

Air Force Seeks SOFCs for Military Applications.

The Department of the Air Force has issued a grants notice for Power
Dense Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Power Units for Military Applications. The
objective of the effort is to develop a 1.5-kW nominal SOFC power unit
capable of continued operation on desulfurized JP8 fuel. Estimated total
program funding is $2.6 million. Proposals are due July 21, 2005.

RPI to Begin New Doctoral Program.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has announced a $4.8 million novel
interdisciplinary program to train doctoral students in fuel cell
science and engineering.  The program is supported by a $3.2 million,
first-of-its-kind fuel cell research education grant from the National
Science Foundation (NSF) combined with a $1.6 million investment by
Rensselaer.  Beginning in the fall 2005 semester and over the course of
five years, 28 doctoral students will have the opportunity to study fuel
cell science and engineering focused on manufacturing, materials
development, and modeling for design, manufacturing, and operation.  The
funding will support full tuition and provide an annual $30,000 stipend
for each student's two-year research fellowship.=20
