Toyota's Fuel Cell Bus Renews Operation.

Toyota Motor Corporation and Hino Motors, Ltd. announced that its FCHV-BUS,=
 which operated on public routes in mid-March around the Central Japan Inte=
rnational Airport (Centrair), renewed operation on July 22, including expan=
ded service to and within the airport.  The effort is part of a fuel cell d=
emonstration program of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's (METI=
's) Japan Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Demonstration Project (JHFC) and is intended=
 to provide necessary data for the commercialization of fuel cell hybrid bu=
ses.  The buses will be fueled at the JHFC Centrair Hydrogen Station, which=
 will be set up within Centrair as part of the JHFC's Demonstration Study o=

Hydrogenics Receives Order for Fuel Cell MidiBus.

Hydrogenics Corporation has received a US $460,000 order for a fuel cell hy=
brid MidiBus from Rheinbahn Rheinische Bahngesellschaft AG, a public transi=
t authority in Germany.  Hydrogenics will install a HyPM=AE-based fuel cell=
 hybrid power plant into a Tecnobus Gulliver electric Midibus platform. The=
 hybrid design will allow the Midibus to travel 200 km on one tank of hydro=

Ballard Power Systems has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and fu=
el cell supply agreement with Shanghai Fuel Cell Vehicle Powertrain Co., Lt=
d. (Powertrain) to cooperate on the development of fuel cell vehicles for d=
emonstration and field trial programs planned in China in 2006 and 2007.  U=

Group Awarded Funding for Demonstration Project.

General Motors of Canada, NACCO Materials Handling Group, Inc. (NMHG) and H=
ydrogenics Corporation received funding from Sustainable Development Techno=
logy Canada (SDTC) for a demonstration project of hydrogen and fuel cell te=
chnologies in commercial lift trucks and other industrial vehicles. The dem=
onstration project will involve use of Hydrogenics' beta version HyPM=AE Fu=
el Cell Power Packs in up to 19 lift trucks and hoists in operation over a =
two-year period at GM's Oshawa car plant.

Hydrogenics to Supply Fuel Cells to STILL, Japanese OEM for Use in Forklift=
s.

Hydrogenics Corporation has received orders for four HyPM=AE Fuel Cell Powe=
r Packs (FCPP) for STILL International, a wholly-owned company of Linde AG =
to be integrated into STILL Class 1 forklifts, used extensively throughout =
the automotive industry in North America. The remaining modules will be int=
egrated into two airport tow tractor vehicles to be deployed at the Hamburg=
 Airport in Germany. All four FCPPs are scheduled for delivery in 2006.  Hy=
drogenics also has received an order for a HyPM=AE FCPP to be integrated in=
to a Japanese OEM's Class 1 forklift, with delivery scheduled for late in 2=
006. This is the third material handling OEM to trial a Hydrogenics FCPP in=
 their forklift truck platform as a replacement for existing battery techno=

Modine Unveils New APU.

Modine Manufacturing Company unveiled a new fuel cell product specifically =
designed for a truck auxiliary power unit application to produce electrical=
 energy continuously for more than 10 hours and will reduce emissions and c=
ut costs for over-the-road truck drivers.  This new advanced idle reduction=
 system (idle-off) incorporates hydrogen-powered fuel cells developed by Ge=
neral Hydrogen Corporation and uses carbon dioxide (CO2), an environmentall=
y-friendly refrigerant, in the cooling. This new idle-off system can be use=
d for both cooling and heating the sleeper cabin in a heavy-duty truck, cre=

Air Force Awards Protonex with Second Contract for UAVs.

Protonex Technology Corporation has been awarded a second contract by the U=
.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to continue development of power s=
ystems for long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The contract has=
 a total program value of $749,247.  The UAV power system will incorporate =
an advanced chemical hydride fueling solution and a high power fuel cell sy=
stem, which will be enabled by proprietary stack technology that can achiev=

NYSERDA Installs Two Fuel Cells and PV Awning at HQ.

Two 5-kW Plug Power GenCore=AE fuel cells and a photovoltaic (PV) awning sy=
stem were installed at New York State Energy Research and Development Autho=
rity (NYSERDA) headquarters in Albany.  The two fuel cell systems will prov=
ide power to the headquarters' systems including computer, security and pho=
nes.  The solar electric awning will power one-half of NYSERDA's computer-d=
riven power-load while inverters will convert 3.6 kilowatts of direct curre=

Nuvera Installs Fuel Cell in Chlorate Plant.

Nuvera Fuel Cells, Uhdenora SpA, and Caffaro SrL announced the successful s=
tart up of Nuvera's ForzaTM fuel cell power module in an installation desig=
ned by Uhdenora.  The system, which is fully integrated into Caffaro's chlo=
rate production plant located in Italy, represents the world's first commer=

Fuel Cell Dedicated at Los Angeles Zoo.=20

A UTC Power 200-kW fuel cell was dedicated at the Los Angeles Zoo, installe=
d just south of the Zoo parking lot, a highly visible location.  The bright=
ly painted facility is designed to attract and educate the public about fue=
l cells, and as an additional benefit, through a partnering agreement, LADW=
P and the L.A. Zoo have collaborated to restore the surrounding native plan=
t garden with walking paths to provide access to the facility and for publi=

FCE Demonstrates Dual Fuel System.

FuelCell Energy, Inc. has successfully demonstrated its stationary power pl=
ants' ability to switch rapidly between fuels, validating the systems' capa=
city to guard against fuel supply interruptions from natural disasters or s=
ecurity issues at mission-critical facilities.  Evaluated in conjunction wi=
th Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC), the power plant continued to =
generate base load electricity on a secondary fuel supply (propane) when th=
e loss of its primary fuel source (natural gas) was triggered during testin=
g. This rapid fuel switch was successfully demonstrated more than 40 times =

Microcell Reaches Significant Milestone, Receives New Investors.

Microcell Corporation has reached a significant milestone in their fuel cel=
l commercialization process.  Using their modular design, the company has a=
chieved the scale up of their multi-core fuel cell to 0.4 kW building block=

Plug Power Units to be Deployed in Venezuela.

Telef=F3nica M=F3viles, one of the two largest wireless providers in Latin =
America, will begin deploying nine Plug Power's GenCore=AE backup power sys=
tems in Venezuela.  The systems will be placed at tower locations with crit=
ical backup needs in the greater Caracas area. This new deployment follows =
the completion of a successful eight-month trial at an active Telef=F3nica =
M=F3viles wireless location outside of Caracas. The GenCore system responde=
d effectively to several grid outages during the trial period, including on=
e that lasted approximately 12 hours, providing power and maintaining tower=

Millennium Cell and ReliOn to Develop Power System for Army.

Millennium Cell Inc. and ReliOn have been awarded a two-year $730,000 Phase=
 II Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) contract by the U.S. =
Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) to develop a fully modul=
ar 500 watt power system with the ability to use available field water with=
 a variety of impurities.  The power system will combine Millennium Cell's =
Hydrogen on Demand=AE technology and ReliOn's Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM=
) fuel cell to create a 500 watt hydrogen battery.  The completed system wi=
ll be evaluated by Selfridge Air National Guard Base and have the capabilit=
y to support a number of military uses including silent watch power, Improv=

Voller Energy Group PLC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with=
 Conergy AG to develop the market for fuel cell generators for small-scale =
off-grid applications.  At remote wind and solar sites, whose efficiency ca=
n be reduced by lack of wind and sun, Voller's software activates the porta=
ble fuel cell in order to maintain a constant power source, so that equipme=
nt at remote sites such as surveillance cameras, illuminated road signs, an=

Three New Hydrogen Station Proposals Selected by CARB.

The Air Resources Board has selected proposals to establish three new hydro=
gen fueling stations in California.  The demonstration stations, the first =
to be co-funded by California, will be located at California State Universi=
ty, Los Angeles; Pacific Gas and Electric, San Carlos; and in Scripps Ranch=
 as part of San Diego City Schools.  The next step in the grant process wil=
l be contract negotiation, followed by outreach, permitting, site preparati=
on, and construction.  The stations should be commissioned in late 2007.

FCE Develops System to Separate Hydrogen, Receives DoD Funding.

FuelCell Energy, Inc. (FCE) has developed a cost-efficient system to separa=
te pure hydrogen from a gas mixture that then can be sold as fuel for hydro=
gen vehicles or industrial uses.  The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has =
awarded FCE US$1.36 Million to advance this Electrochemical Hydrogen Separa=

BP and GE to Build Up to 15 Hydrogen Power Plants by 2016.

BP and GE will jointly build ten to fifteen hydrogen power plants that will=
 generate hydrogen from a fossil fuel while sequestering carbon dioxide. Th=
e companies expect the projects to be implemented over the next ten years, =
with the first two plants opening up in Scotland and California.

FST Energy Achieves Breakthrough with Fuel Cassettes.

FST Energy, Inc. has achieved a significant breakthrough for the fuel cell =
market by eliminating the need for metal hydrogen storage cylinders. The FS=
T Fuel Cassette=AE system uses a proprietary chemical reaction to generate =
300 percent more hydrogen at 1/3 the weight of pressurized cylinders   The =
Fuel Cassettes provide enough hydrogen to power a 5-kW fuel cell for anywhe=

Millennium Cell Inc. has joined the University of South Carolina's NSF Indu=
