FuelCell Energy Receives $2.5 Million ONR Award.

FuelCell Energy, Inc. has been awarded an additional $2.5 million by the
U.S. Office of Naval Research (ONR) to complete a land-based
demonstration of its ship service fuel cell (SSFC) power plant and begin
design work on a next generation ship-based prototype. The goal of this
project is to improve the power generation efficiency on board ships
also known as ship hotel power, by using high-efficiency fuel cell
technology. To meet the Navy's ship board power requirements, FuelCell
Energy is adapting its Direct FuelCell(r) power plants to run on naval
liquid fuels (diesel and jet fuel).

FuelCell Energy Unit Doing Time at Santa Rita Jail.

California has installed its first megawatt-class FuelCell Energy
hydrogen fuel cell cogeneration plant at Alameda County's Santa Rita
Jail. The project, led by Chevron Energy Solutions, will provide half
of the facility's annual power needs, save county taxpayers more than
$260,000 a year, and will shrink Santa Rita's power purchases by as much
as 80 percent during the peak-demand summer months.=20=20

Alchemy Enterprises Operates EPC with Hydrogen Fuel Cell.

Alchemy Enterprises, Ltd. has successfully operated the prototype
Electric Power Cell (EPC) integrated with a hydrogen fuel cell for the
first time. During this experiment the EPC was connected to, and
powered a series of 115-volt apparatus. The EPC uses the safe,
non-toxic, and readily available magnesium as its "fuel material"
eliminating the need for highly compressed tanks of the volatile
hydrogen, and produces hydrogen on demand. Alchemy is completing the
designing and construction a 100KW system for use in transit buses
planned for the first quarter of 2007.
