Hi Allan,

I was just citing an example where excessive super phosphate use and
excessive chemical fertilizer use can put the soil into major problems where
no crops can be grown.  I don't perceive that people like Reams, Kinsey and
Albrecht ever got into situations where they screwed up the soil like that.

What I have found is that I can put down two fertilizer products as a "food
resource" in the form of trace minerals (Planters II) and organic nutrients
(Biosol organic fertilizer).  With that resource in place I don't spend a
dime on soil testing or pH testing, because I've found that material is more
than adequate.  The next resource I have added to soils and to plant roots
and plant surfaces is some very specific soil life.  Examples of the soil
life are mycorrhizal fungi, trichoderma fungi, aerobic bacteria species, and
faculative bacteria species which can be aerobic or anaerobic.  The levels
that soil life are added CAN NOT be achieved naturally.  Natural levels of
both types of resources (the two fertilizer types and the various soil life
species) are inadequate to support the number of plants we are growing for
food.  Cultivation is more than loosening up the soils.  We need both types
of the above resources added to the soils to grow the numbers of plants we
want to grow and to achieve the plant qualities that we want to achieve.
Those high plant qualities are directly tied to brix levels as a means of
measuring plant quality.  Those high plant qualities are tied to both soil
life AND food for that soil life which is transformed into food for the
plants.  When you take care of those two resource types properly then plant
quality and yields are maximized.  I am absolutely convinced that measuring
brix levels and seeing those levels go above maximum on the brix charts is a
good way to monitor how well the system is performing.  When you look inside
the plants and observe greatly improved plant physiology, there is no doubt
that this system works.  I don't spend money on soil tests or soil testing
equipment or pH testing equipment or nutrient testing equipment or any other
rather expensive conductivity or frequency meters.  I just have my trusted
refractometer to measure brix.  And I have found a way that works to get my
plants into high yields, high health and vitality and high brix.

Someone made an post earlier about RNA bacteria.  They are implying that
they have this "special" bacteria with RNA in it and it will somehow produce
great plants.  That's a SCAM in the works.  DNA is in all bacteria.  There
is a process of copying RNA from the DNA.  That's how RNA is created.  It
doesn't just pop into existence in bacteria.  In bacteria it is copied from
the DNA.  Once the RNA is formed it goes through a translation process to
make protein and amino acids.  I have bacteria in my microbe tea kits which
are very good at generating a lot of different amino acids.  Amino acids are
long chain molecules to which trace minerals and other plant nutrient ions
can hook up.  That stuff is known as chelated minerals.  Amino acids loaded
up with plant nutrients which are solubalized out of minerals and organic
material by fungi and bacteria are the main transport of plant nutrients
into the cells of plants.  Amino acids have priority for getting into plant
cells by a process called endocytosis.  If you have the right foods
(minerals and organic materials present) and you have plenty of the right
kind of bacteria and fungi processing that raw food material and amino acids
which hook up with the nutrients and mycorrhizal fungi which work with the
right kind of bacteria to transport those nutrients into plant cells... you
then have a plant loaded up with a lot of the right nutrients to grow and
produce a lot of high brix foods.  You use a refractometer to verify the
quality is present.  You can also look at the plant structure inside and out
and SEE that you have superior plant physiology being developed.  You will
observe that destructive insects are not attracted to such plants and that
diseases which are really decomposers do not form on those plants.  You can
also SEE there is more chlorophyll in large sized leaves on those plants.
You can also SEE vibrant colors develop.  And when you eat the food grown
from such plants... which is really the object we all are getting at... you
have such clarity of mind, and you feel physically much improved because of
the nutrition in the food you are eating, and you have an immune system and
a digestive system which is functioning much better, and you are building up
the good organisms while keeping out the toxic producing organisms in your
intestinal tract because of the much higher level of beneficial phytosterols
which are in that food you ate.... and you are maintaing high levels of
health and vitality in your body.  If we could get all the growers to grow
food like this, we would not have the medical problems we have now in this
country.  People are concerned about the cost of medical care and of
medicines.  I strongly believe and am convinced all of that can be wiped
away by growing and consuming food as I have described above.

I also believe it is a mistake to think the organisms are going to come
along if you just put the food down for them.  You can get them to natural
levels, but those levels are not good enough, in my opinion, to grow high
brix food which is reflective of high quality plants loaded with nutrients
and phytochemicals which are most beneficial to US when we eat that food.
There are vast areas where those organisms have been destroyed because of
the chemical cultural practices.  It's absurd to me to think they are going
to appear out of no where at levels that have to be above what naturally can
occur or naturally can be sustained.  That's just wishful thinking in my
opinion... although there is an element of truth to that sort of thinking.
We have strong evidence that when the mineral and organic food is put in
place and bacteria and fungi are applied to start the system up at much
higher than natural levels, the earthworm populations and protozoa and
beneficial nematodes and many other beneficial life in the soil will
virtually explode in numbers.

We did an experiment with some grass clippings that the worms would not
touch because there were not enough nutrients present to cause them to eat
them.  We had two twenty by twenty foot areas knee deep in those grass
clippings.  We brewed up a batch of our tea which contains a lot of
beneficial bacteria and fungi which we have purchased and have known
performance in generating amino acids and solubalizing minerals and breaking
down organic material.... along with some food for those critters.  We
sprayed one quart of that tea on each of those 20x20 foot areas and in 2-3
weeks all of the grass clippings were gone.  The soil was teeming with
earthworms and the soil was soft to 3 and 4 feet into clay soils below about
a foot of loam.  There wasn't a trace of the clippings left.

In another experiment, we treated lawns with minerals, organic materials,
mycorrhiza fungi, and our tea.  We took the clippings from that lawn and
piled them in areas of soil that had not been fertilized or sprayed with
bacteria and fungi.  In a couple of weeks those clippings were gone.  Again
the earthworm populations were high and the soil tilth ran deep.  The high
levels of bacteria and fungi on that grass and the nutrients in that grass
were what enticed the earthworms to move into that stuff in great numbers.
We didn't see the red composting worms.  Those earthworms filled that soil
with worm castings.

We planted vegetable plants in that soil, added BioVam mycorrhiza to the
plant roots and grew high brix plants.  These experiments showed that
organic material low in nutrients is just going to sit there, but there is a
way to utilize it by spraying nutrients and bacteria and fungi onto it.  The
experiments also indicated that organic material rich in internal nutrients
and coated with bacteria and fungi beneficial to the soils is also a good
source of material that will sustain the growth of high brix plants and it
will draw in and sustain certain organisms like earthworms.  The organic
material without nutrients would not draw in the organisms nor would it
cause them to multiply until we added food and bacteria and fungi.  Then,
the earthworms went nuts with that stuff.  In both of those cases, the level
of soil life was above what naturally would occur in the area.  When we
increased the soil life and nutrients for that soil life, it made a big
difference.  Natural levels never made a difference with the low nutrient
clippings which had sat around for years.

Anyway, I'm not speaking against guys like Reams and Kinsey and Albrecht who
paid little or no attention to soil biology and still got (and get) results.
But I am saying that paying attention to soil biology can certainly make a
difference and I don't have to wait years for stuff to creep in and hope for
the best.  I can start with soil that is already ruined and get going right
away with production.  I am also ready to be called a kook because I firmly
believe that using a refractometer is the best way to monitor the fact that
my plants are high in quality especially as I see their superb physiological
development.

Interestingly enough, I'm also noticing that many of the rules about what
you can or can't do with plants are vaporizing because they were developed
as a result of growing plants under chemical cultural practices.  For
example:  first year strawberry plants can bear and produce significant high
quality berry volumes and can develop into strong plants at the same time.
You do not have to wait until the second year to produce a crop of
strawberries.

  So what do you make of guys like Reams and Kinsey and Albrecht who
  paid little or no attention to soil biology and still got (and get)
  results?  If you are doing the soil testing and doing the balancing
  by appropriate incorporation of inputs, isn't it, to a fair degree
  'build it and they will come'? (And they will  come faster if you
  inoculate.)
