To have a better review debate, I've just filed a MR: https://github.com/apache/xmlgraphics-fop/pull/95/files

I'm currently upgrading from a pre 1.0 version that was patched with https://bz.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=47347. The result of the patch from this JIRA issue looks good: Version 2.11 with the current patch applied produces the same result in my (very limited) local examples.
