Seems too much functionality not covered by other tec to remove it. Its not
gained adoption mostly due to lack of IE support.. if IE gained support,
then it's usage increased dramatically my guess is they would not remove
it. Also what is the issue with going with a javascript implementation
thats baked into the browser as is proposed. This keeps the C++ code clean
but still allows SMIL animations in places where javascript is not allowed =
(
embedding images via css etc.. ) as its baked into the browser.
P.S. on an semi related note. Currently I adjust much of my svg in the
browser using the basic dom interface of get and setting attributes, but
this is all string based.
I was looking at "Animated properties" such as SVGAnimatedInteger
and SVGAnimatedLength so i can directly use integers rather than generating
and parsing strings all the time ( even tho i won't be using it to animate
properties, just to get & set these )
I can then just put elemNode.cx.baseVal.value rather than
parseInt(elemNode.getAttribute("cx")) etc..
Will these be removed with the ( possible ) removal of SMIL and do they
have good cross browser support in recent browsers, even modern versions of
IE ?
I could not find any mention of them on caniuse.com for example
