strange behaviour of xml-xindice-1.0

Hi!

After the installation of:
-xml-xindice-1.0.tar.gz
-j2sdk1.4.2_08

And setting all environment variables properly I attempted to start xindice by
invoking "xindice.server start".
Everything went just fine and it was possible to query the standard db with:
"xindice list_collections -c /db"

The response was as expected:
System...

After a shut down of xindice with "xindice.server stop" and a restart with
"xindice.server start" I couldNt connect to the database.

The output looks as follows:
ERROR : A connection to the Database instance 'db' could not be created.
Error: Connection refused

What makes the first attempt to connect the database different from the second
one?

I read the faq and all the documentation files, but I can't find the sollution
to my problem. Any hints?
