Re: Topic Maps for Drupal

The board of the Topic Maps Group at the Norwegian Computer Society has had a parallell discussion about the topicmaps.com domain.

We would like to join the discussion about how to use the central Topic Maps domains the best way for the international Topic Maps community.

In recent years topicmaps.com has been used to promote the Topic Maps conference series, but the plans were  broader, as you can see here:

We would like to cooperate, and Robert Strind had some conversations about the use of topicmaps.com at TMRA last week.

One major concern is the ownership and administation of the domains. We almost lost topicmaps.com last year when the domain expired and was not renewed by the registrant.

Maybe a foundation could be a way to make sure that the ownership and administation of the domains was well taken care of. (Think of a kind of Open Source organisational model for the administration of the domains)

We made a google group for the discussion of topicmaps.com, but I now think we should broaden the scope and at least include topicmaps.org.

We could agree on a google group name first and send an invitation to this list. We would like a broad group to  participate in the discussion.
