--0-311495524-1121541958=:70463 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Hi Ekta, Hope your dialup blues are gone by now, but just incase you are still stuck ... here is the solution Step 1 : Goto CMD (dos prompt) and type "ipconfig" This will give you - your IP address, IP of your Service Provider and that of the DNS server. Use "Ping [ip address]" to ping all 3 ... if result is success then simply reinstall Internet Explorer. else... Step 2 : reset tcp/ip by typing "netsh int ip reset [log file name]" on command prompt (log file name = any name eg:- c:\log1.txt) ....REBOOT.... Step 3 : If the above two don't work then try deleting winsock and winsock2 from the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2 ....REBOOT.... Step 4 : Next thing you can try is reinstalling TCP/IP protocol to do this goto Local Are Connection Properties > click on "Internet Protocol TCP/IP" > Install > Protocols > Internet Protocols > TCP/IP (Note: incase if it asks for a path then you will need the WindowsXP cd or a dump and then select /i386/inf/) ....REBOOT.... Step 5 : If non of this works then you need to reinstall your Network Adapter and the Modem. Goto Device Manager, right click on each and select uninstall. Then restart the computer. XP will detect them again and do a fresh install for you. Step 6 : Re-install Windows :D ... Last Step Has Got To Work. If still no luck then call your ISP :) ... Best Of Luck. Cheers Varun. ektamanglani <[email protected]> wrote: Hi all, I dont really post much messages to this group but now-a-days i am facing a problem in the internet connection at my place. Initially may be a month back it was working fine until now when i log on the user name and password is authenticated and i am connected to the internet but i cant view the web pages as it says "the page cannot be displayed" I tried to change the lan settings(Tools-Internet Options- ) by automatically detecting them but doesnt work out. Can there be some sort of DNS error or something. The page doesnt get refreshed too. The modem and the internet line seems to work fine. I also tried making a new connection by Dial-Up-Networking but the same problem persists in the new connection too. The biggest wonder is that the same connection used to work a month back??? I would be glad if someone comes up with the solution. --------------------------------- YAHOO! GROUPS LINKS Visit your group "dygroup" on the web.
