FTP & UNIX

Hi Guys,
    I am FTPing a huge file from a remote Server using
UNIX FTP command. My problem is that this file too
Huge
and it takes considerable amount of time to FTP. Can't
we have something in UNIX like Concurrent FTP
(Somewhat like in JAVA) ie multiple threads FTPing the
same file ????
any ideas on same...
