Invitation : International DB2 Users Group coming to Dublin in November

Folks,

Forgive my intrusion into your User Group.

I'm part of the CPC (Conference Planning Committee) for the EMEA Conference 
of IDUG (International DB2 User Group).   We are a user run organisation, 
fiercely independent from IBM and the other large vendors (although 
thankfully well supported by them in terms of speakers etc.).

Our conference is taking place in Dublin in November.  Full details can be

Part of my role in the CPC is to encourage participation by the local 
community.   We have a number of things which might interest you, with the 
word FREE (as in beer) stamped all over them.

Firstly, we have a day of presentations devoted to Apache Spark, the open 
source cluster computing framework and one of the hot topics in the 
analytics space at the moment.  Full details of this track can be found

The good news is that anyone can register for this track absolutely free.   
Just follow the instructiosn on the track page.   The reason we ask you to 
register is that we will provide lunch and we need to know how many people 
to cater for.   There is a gap in the middle of the day, when the rest of 
the conference will be attending VSP (Vendor Sponsored Presentations). 
 During this time we hope to have some of the top IBMers who are working on 
Spark and other exciting developments available for informal discussion.

The next thing that we have available is free day passes for students.   
Anyone who is in education (full or part time, whatever level) can apply 
for a one day pass to attend a conference day of their choice.   We thought 
that Tuesday might be the preferred day, but if another day is more 
interesting then feel free to choose that.  One other interesting event is 
the "Fun with SQL" session on the Wednesday.   It is a "dojo" style SQL 
coding competition, normally with free beer from around the world brought 
by the various organisers, and has proven to be great fun in the past.

If anyone does want to attend the full conference and has never attended an 
IDUG before then we can get you onto the "IDUG Mentor Program".  Basically 
we match you up with a frequent IDUG attendee or IBM Champion (volunteers 
like myself), you get a special code and you get to attend for 20% of the 
regular fee (384 euros plus VAT).

Lastly, if any of you would like to attend for a single day of your choice, 
even if you are not a student, please contact me directly giving me a bit 
of information about yourself and why you'd like to attend.  Obviously we 
can't offer free registration to people who would normally attend anyway 
(e.g. DB2 developers or vendors), but we have a limited budget for free 
passes for local "users", and you may qualify.
