I am not 100% sure but I thought you were only allowed one EFI partition. Also make sure the boot flag is set on both boot partitions. Another thing, would not sharing the swap cause confusion? Perhaps have 2 swaps? Anything in dmesg to give you a clue? May not be mounting stuff correctly. Also can you boot into both versions from the Install disk.
