keep in mind that Free software is still 'proprietary' in the sense that 
someone does own the copyright on it.  Free software is not public 
domain software.  If there were not owned, then no one could apply GPL 
like restrictions to it.  Licence restrictions may only be applied and 
enforced by the owner of the software.
