The Microsoft OEM contract doesn't allow that. :) OEMs selling XP pre-loaded boxes are not allowed to ship with a full XP copy; they should ship only a "restore CD" (or a restore partition, like IBM laptops). If you don't do that, you don't get the OEM discount. Presumably, an Acer XP-preloaded laptop will be cheaper still.
