Writing good OO does not depend on the programming language you choose
to implement it with.

An application written in c++ does not automagically become Object
Oriented. I have seen so much "Object Oriented C++" where the classes
are just a placeholder for a zillion functions. on the other hand I have
seen PHP code written by noble programmers which is totally Object
Oriented. just because the language allows you to use globals does not
mean that you start usng them.

It is practically impossible to teach good programming style to
students that have had prior exposure to BASIC: as potential
programmers they are mentally mutilated beyond hope of regeneration.
