[LIP] Linux memory model query.

Hi all.

I wanted to know what kind of memory model Linux
uses.paged or segmented.
Does it enter protected mode on 80386 and above?

Also, whether both segmented and paged memory models
need to
enter protected mode to using 32 bit addressing
capabilities
of the processor?
