[LIP] Project ideas!

Hi people ,

Project Ideas Please!
For some reasons , I am totally blank about project ideas for 7th sem
Networking , Java and CGI project. I needed some really cool ideas . I
dont want to reinvent the wheel. Now the constraints are

Networking
==========

1) We are supposed to do in application layer
2) We are using C on linux ;)
3) We want one that can be coded within 3 months and we wanted Open
Src projects ( no adding modules one please ). It would help if
someone pointed us to some "not yet done " ideas in Linux environment.

Java
====

1) Need a simple project that can be coded in weeks
2) The project is to develop some application that will exploit the
graphics libs in java

CGI
===

1) not sure which to pick PERL or PHP
2) any interface suggestions please

Please tell me ideas Asap and help me impress them and give me
satisfaction that i have done something worthwhile in my engineering
life guys. No flaming please !
