Of course that is the issue.  You're the first post to notice what Jon was
complaining about, instead of just standing up for your buddy, your pal,
Open Office the great. ;)

Whatever one wants to say about Word, and Microsoft, they understand that
backwards compatibility is paramount for documentation.  

Seriously, however, zeal and drive are great, but not if one
over-represents something.  For example, years ago I remember quite a few
nutjobs running around, claiming that OpenOffice had perfect .doc
import/export!

pffft!  Perfect my ass!  It still is not perfect today, although it is
significantly better.  Claiming anything other than that, is only going to
lead to embarrassment for those trying it, and anger as a response to that
embarrassment.  In a corporate environment, such a realization (that is,
this product does not live up to its rep), that could literally slow down
or stop adoption of open sauce software.

Remember, suits are like most of the global warming nuts.  They disbelieve
issues unless they can see them, and believe issues when they see them,
but aren't there.  Oh look!  Katrina was a result of global warming!  Crop
shortages are a result of global warming!

Ah well.

Hell guys, OOo is damned young.  While some organizations are using it for
*internal* docs, few I know are using it
