Internet Woes; or, Who's Your ISP?

I moved to the area about two (three?) months ago now, and I'm suffering
some Internet woes.

I initially had a dry-loop DSL connection, through Teksavvy.  Excellent ISP,
horrible DSL connection: I was getting ~1200/800 kbps down/up, on an
Interleaved profile.  For unrelated issues, I was forced to get a phone
line, and now I'm seeing ~800/600 kbps down/up, on a Fast profile.  No, it
doesn't make sense that they would push me out to a CO that's /further/
away, but that's Bell.

So, my question is: are there any non-cable, non-DSL options for someone
living south-east of the downtown core (Main and Clegg is the nearest
intersection, out by Main and Lees / Main and Hawthorne)?

Because of how I use my connection, Rogers/Cogeco are out (save for
possibly a business-class connection, but I'd really rather avoid them as an
ISP entirely).  DSL is going to be problematic no matter my choice, and I'd
rather not think about satellite.

I'm looking for something that is decent bandwidth, and I'd love to get rid
of this whole asymmetry thing, but that may just be a pipe dream.  I'm not
averse to wireless (microwave, long-range 802.11), and I'm okay spending up
to about $200/mo for decent service.  Fibre's out, as the installation cost
is prohibitive, and even with a contract, the monthly cost (I was quoted
$800/mo) is way too high (I might as well rent office space for that).  Not
to mention that a few places said they wouldn't even serve residential
neighbourhoods.

So... Anything worth considering?  Any companies / people worth contacting
directly to speak with?  Anyone feel like setting up some long-range 802.11a
networks and pooling costs to a common fibre link?
