It can run hot, and I've heard that might lead to a failure (I had one die within a year) so watch the ventilation and ambient temps. I got a TP-LINK TD-8841 about a month ago (Everbest computer, Merivale Road). It's solid so far, on my (highly-rated!) TekSavvy service. It's running on my server connection so I'd notice any problems. It runs linux. You can telnet in. :-) I haven't explored it any for customization yet. Other than poking around to see what's inside I've just been using it as-is. Note: no ls, so just use "echo *", "echo */*" etc. to look around for commands, etc. There's a similar model that's a few bucks cheaper with only one thernet port and otherwise identical I think. >I've got this Trendnet TDM-C400 ADSL2+ modem that is just a piece of > crap.
