I use a D-Link at the entry point of our cable-based connection. It is running unmodified, with updated firmware from D-Link. Very stable, very reliable. Even my wife has no problem connecting to it with Windows. I have a NetGear router installed upstairs, installed as a repeater/gateway, so we don't have to run a cable from basement to upstairs. The Netgear router is the Open Source one, which I re-programmed using DD-WRT. I also had no problem at all. I am Linux, And Windows 7 was NOT my idea !.......
