It's a tough choice.

On one hand, a distribution's primary goal is to provide you with
packages.  Ubuntu has a much better system, as it's based on Debian's
apt.

On the other hand, Ubuntu is trying to separate itself from Linux as
much as it can.  And Fedora is the disto used by most core Linux
developers... probably because most of them work for RedHat :)

I think you'll find that Ubuntu is a pleasure as long as Ubuntu cares
about the same things you do.  It's the platform I'd install for my
children and parents as they are casual users, but I personally
dislike Ubuntu because things "out of the box" are often broken.

Ubuntu has traditionally been about desktop users.  They have a server
release, but it's not their flag ship.  Their new obsession is mobile
linux, putting them even further from servers.

I'd expect that RAID support would be the same on both, since this is
a core system/kernel feature.  But if anyone could break it, it would
more likely be Ubuntu... since kernel devs work on Fedora.

This is the first time I am going to recommend Fedora over Ubuntu, but
I really dislike where Ubuntu has been heading lately.
