MD5SUMs of binary (same rpm version) different across servers

Dear all,

Just wondering, has anyone encountered situations where md5sums of a
binary is inconsistent across servers?

At $WORK, we needed to confirm the consistency of our cluster nodes. Did
a full md5sum of each system, compared them to each other, but there are
many surprising differences. For example, /bin/alsacard from the same
alsa-utils package version has different md5sums on each node, and none
of the md5sums matches the extracted file from alsa-utils rpm.

Has anyone encountered this before? Any pointers to resolve this?

Thanks for your help!

Regards,
Junhao
