It has been a horrible decade sitting with fists clenched, screaming at the TV, waiting to hear good news about aid for Ukraine. I remember one evening, when our jaws dropped as McCarthy got voted out. I just hope that our military supplies will allow a sharp turn to victory. Though I personally feel safe and protected, I agonize every time I hear of a bombing anywhere near our family. The hardest part is waiting for their call. They cannot call out during air raid alerts, and there is no point in trying to contact them during those times. Often once the air raid is over, they lose electricity and internet access. So I sit and wait til they call back. Those calls are mundane but life affirming. It lifts their spirits to know someone cares. We spend time practicing his English and my Ukrainian. As far as the aid, they were so happy when it was approved. No one knows what changed Johnson’s mind on Ukraine aid. He says he was given a secure briefing, after which he concluded it would be best to defeat Putin before we have to send soldiers. Some say the real reason is that his son will attend the Naval Academy next year, and he does not want his son in active combat. Maybe. I think it as simple as this: the polling shows the majority of Americans view this as an unjust sadistic attack. Plus, they love an underdog. I think media overwhelm us with the anti Ukraine GOP politicians’ voices, because this makes for better ratings. I am not surprised Ukrainian flags still prevail here. I believe that the pro Ukraine view is the actual majority sentiment across America, and our media has unjustifiably amplified the Marjorie Taylor Greene voices. Literally everyone I talk to here says to “give Ukraine everything they need to win”. I hope I never run across anyone down here who supports Putin. I suppose the argument may not end well. Nonetheless, I believe most Americans are kind and fair. I suspect Johnson conducted polling that showed him America supports Ukraine. Speaking of media, there were so many times over the years glued to the set. legal history. There was the Trump trial, and then SCOTUS hearing on immunity. They say two jurors were lawyers. Also, I had a bad decent view of the eclipse. I was not affected by the earthquake either . It affected my sister. It wasn’t disastrous. Her landlord has sent out a contractor to inspect the premises. She lives two miles from the epicenter. Coincidentally, Trumpʼs Bedminster golf course is about the same We used to walk daily. Not anymore too tired. The bird watching had been great. But it is so late, they have mostly gone. With the Merlin app, I have managed to locate a good deal more birds. A lot of migratory birds I would never have noticed in the past.
