The road to Paradox these days goes through Abavia. So let me explain that one. Abavia is a Usenet backbone based in the Netherlands. Abavia has a unique property of allowing groups to be created by making a post to a group that doesn't exist. And so I did and created two new "paradox" groups in the alt hierarchy where I'm going to be posting. To get to them, you need an account from an Abavia provider. Then just do a group search for groups with "paradox" in their names. Two of the three in the alt hierarchy are mine. All my posts of original content are going to be posted there first. That's going to be my scans and articles about Usenet. I will repost some of them here and elsewhere and I'll continue to post undergrounds from the 1970s here as I find them and repost fanzines and magazines to other groups. I stumbled upon this group by accident when I did a group search for all groups with the word comics in them. My newsreader found both alt.comics.classic and alt.binaries.comics.classic. I wanted to do the underground posts to the binaries group but they weren't going through and I posted them here instead. I didn't know that alt.binaries.comics.classic was one of number of groups that are exclusive to the Abavia backbone. They are like the phantom Usenet groups. Only Abavia carries them but, for reasons unkown, you can post to them from Blocknews and Newsgroupdirect but neither backbone has them in their groups list and you can't see your posts on their backbones, Netnews and Usenet Express. There are cheap 6tb non expiring Abavia blocks on Bulknews. The code bf20 will discount the price from 140 euros to 15. There are lots of cheap subscriptions as well. 20 euros will get you a years access at low bandwidth with some providers with posting allowed. Bulknews currently has a 50mb account for 22 euros annually. This link will tell you what provider uses what backbone. https://whatsmyuse.net/ There's the Reddit provider wiki as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/wiki/providers/ This group was a wasteland when I found it with no comics posts in years and nothing but sermons in English and Spanish. I'm proud to have turned it into one of the better repositories of 1970s underground comics on Usenet. It has been my home group for years where I first posted my text posts on rentention and other Usenet subjects. Now that I've created a couple of new groups on Abavia, they are going to be my home groups. It's kind of like moving to the distant suburbs of Usenet where it will be quieter with less traffic. -- PX=Paradox
