Everyone I worked with used 7-Zip for 2 reasons

Everyone else used 7-Zip

The .7z archive format. High compression ratio when you needed it, 
reliable, and most important you knew that the guy you were sending 
stuff too also used it, would recognized it, and could decompress it.
