I have exactly the same problem. My Windows 7 laptop was stolen, but I managed to get a second-hand one where they loaded Windows 10 32-bit -- avoid Windows 11, which doesn't have a 32-bit option, and so won't run older programs. There should be a law to say that abandonware, like Windows XP and Windows 7 (a\nd soon Windows 10) should be made public domain and open source when they are abandoned, so that data can still be accessible.
