In this aerial view from September 2,
1971, we see undeveloped land around the Seven Seas Lagoon, which
would later become the sites for the Grand Floridian (1988) and
Wilderness Lodge (1994). A 1973 WDW Souvenir Guide mentioned the
construction of a "lodge" at Fort Wilderness to accommodate
guests. While land was cleared at the Wilderness Lodge site during WDW
construction, it may have just been for additional campsites.
