### - nowadays maybe they are haha, but that's not at all the point am
making here, or even anything to do with it other than to perhaps now
observe/suggest that india has subsequently become more callous to such
things because science is clearly beginning to replace religion in india,
exactly as it was designed to do...

the 'real' point (my original point in relation to the OP's
observation/assertion) is that india has always been heavily steeped in
religion as being their reason-d'etre for just about everything they did,
and remained that way for millennia... it having perhaps since changed in
no way detracting from their history of generally treating people
suffering from, what 'modern' man now calls 'mental illness' as having
been blessed by the spirit in some way and thus holy-er than the average
man in the street... known sages and mystics throughout history often
being renown for their eccentric behaviour and for speaking in seeming
riddles and stuff, and that consequently such people were closer to the
spirit/god, or whatever you wanna call it, than your average law abiding
citizen...

### - ah yes, the clear mark of modern man, whose rationally identified
and then categorised all the different so-called mental illnesses, every
single one of which is considered to be something less (or lacking)
compared to the average man in the street, and thus dismissed and looked
down on as being 2nd class citizens...

whereas, in reality, 'some' of them could in fact be budding sages, except
modern man doesn't care about that anymore, and because, let's face it,
mentally challenged people of any description or type don't exactly make
very reliable factory workers huh, and that's basically all modern man is
looking for these days because science has them by the balls in more or
less exactly the same way religion once did ;)
