as 'genius' or there isn't, there's either such a thing as  
'sages/advanced' human beings, or there aren't...

the current 'point' under debate is whether or not such things as a  
spiritual range actually exists for human beings or not, and that if it  
does exist the question then arises: are so called mad/insane people, by  
dint of being different in some way to average, actually any closer to it  
than say the average man in the street is...

well, imho the average man in the street - so called normal people - are  
the farthest thing from being sane (is a football mob sane??) and thus  
'anything' that's departs from that so-called 'norm' is always gonna be  
closer to the genuinely spiritual than the norms are, some only a little,  
some maybe a lot, many not at all because they're just simply  
damaged/deranged...

this being something only a genuinely advanced person would be able to  
accurately discern, and about which average people could only opine...
