Well, let's just think about how /dark vision/ works in the real world.
The first thing to cover is that we are talking about the /real world/,
and not some fantastical idea created by some wizards on a coast.  So
we start by ruling out the /eyes/.  They don't see in the dark.  So some
other sense must be used.  Otherwise it isn't /dark vision/, it'll just
be, at best, seeing some extra colour spectrums uncommon -- or complete-
ly unknown -- among humans.  Since I haven't measured the visible spect-
rum of every other person, I'll stick to the term /uncommon/ for now.
Now that we have established the basics of /dark vision/ we can start to
measure ourselves up to this standard, and figure out that we wouldn't
be able to see any magick with this either, we'd merely be able to sense
our surroundings in a fashion somewhat alien to people with eyes.  And
while this is common among magickal creatures -- at least as far as I'm
able to gather on my own; it would be kind of ridiculous if this was an
uncommon feat among them -- we humans would have no use for this in our
daily lives, and shouldn't be jealous of these magickal creatures.  We
simply use our magickal displays of liquid crystals, and type in our re-
plies on Usenet.  That's all I wanted to say on the subject, but the
19th century run-on paragraph hit me, and now it seems I can't stop typ-
ing.  And as for as I'm aware, nobody has explicitly put /dark vision/
down as forbidden and illegal in law books.  Magickal and otherwise.  I
guess the priests who tried to fight magick thought it could be neat to
/see in the dark/ so to speak, or they simply never thought of it.  But
then I have not gone through all documents related to the prior church's
fight against magick, and don't know off-hand what they were after.  All
I can say is that /dark vision/, at first glance, seems utterly useless
to /see magick/, and therefore we shouldn't expect the /magickal creatu-
res/ to see it either, even when they do have /dark vision/.
